Reducing Risk In Accessibility Compliance
12:05 PM - 01:05 PM
Accessibility requirements are some of the most confusing out there, especially in multi-family housing, healthcare and higher education buildings. Introduction to Universal Design
01:10 PM - 02:10 PM
The building code lags behind worldwide best practices for meeting the needs of our neurodiverse and physically disabled community members. This presentation will introduce these diverse communities, and specific strategies to accommodate the four most common areas of complaint. Practical and cost-conscious methods will be discussed, as well as the importance of engaging with those underserved communities to create recommendations for design teams. Joshua has over two decades of experience and is a principal of accessibility and universal design projects. He has worked on everything from high rise high schools to master plans of multi-campus higher education. With extensive experience with existing buildings, Joshua is a veteran of accessibility initiatives on the leading edge of educating and supporting clients by integrating universal design into their projects to surpass the code minimums and accommodate more individuals’ needs.

Profile Solutions
02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Profiles provide a smooth, seamless transition whether installing as a project necessity or to create a decorative flair. Join us in this one-hour course as we explore how these small metal workhorses solve challenges such as edge protection and expansion joints, provide safety by increasing visibility and slip resistance, and increase aesthetics by adding a sophisticated finish. Our discussion will include ADA Considerations, examine green building certifications, and conclude with case studies. After this course, participants will be able to expound on in detail the variety of profile solutions that meet an array of transition challenges.
