Optimizing Healthy Spaces, Inside and Outside Your Home

11:05 AM - 12:05 PM

This course focuses on optimizing spaces, both indoor and outdoor, and for different types of homes. With the simultaneous trends of on the one hand living in smaller spaces but a growing desire to be in a healthy space on the other hand, this course teaches us how to turn these two seemingly opposite movements into an opportunity. Participants will learn about making strategic use of a pivoting or sliding door integrated with an architectural room divider to serve multiple purposes: to avoid losing light and spaciousness, and at the same time creating extra space. Step into the forefront of design, mastering the art of creating seamlessly integrated landscapes that captivate and inspire. This course will enhance participant’s expertise in crafting indoor and outdoor spaces, complemented with engaging visuals. They will gain important skills to design versatile and inviting environments through a blend of innovation, practicality, and aesthetic appeal.

Reviving The Lost Art of Moldings

12:25 PM - 01:25 PM

Why does a room feel right when you walk into it? What's the significance of scale and proportion? Have we lost our "design" roots? This AIA continuing education program touches on these issues and more, looking back to the Greek's, the evolution of moldings, and why they make such an impact on any building project. Understand why moldings play such an important role in the design of structures, making them ascetically pleasing while creating an emotional response.
