Prefabricated Ornamental Railing and Its Role in Improving Accessibility within the Built Environment
12:10 PM - 01:10 PM
Stair railing designed for use in public spaces must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The main concerns with ADA revolve around safety, accessibility, and usability for people with disabilities in public spaces. Universal Design (UD) is a design philosophy that is broader in scope than the requirements of the ADA. In this course, we will review the key issues and requirements of improving accessibility in both private and public spaces, discussing best practices in railing system design.
