Fire-Retardant-Treated Wood the Model Codes and the Wildland Urban Interface

This session is a discussion of fire-retardant-treated wood (FRTW), its technical characteristics, and its code-related applications, with an emphasis on those applications in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI). Topics include: FRTW testing, listing, and labeling requirements; how FRTW compares to other building materials such as steel, concrete, and painted/coated wood products, and code-approved FRTW interior and exterior applications, including those in the International Wildland Urban Interface Code as well as relevant National Fire Protection Association Standards.

Unpacking the 2024 IECC Commercial and Residential Energy Credits

This course covers the required additional energy efficiency credit options of the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Participants will learn of base energy credits as well as renewable and load management credits for commercial buildings and when each are required, as well as the energy efficiency credits required for residential projects. Participants will also review the existing building requirements related to energy credits. An application exercise for new construction and existing buildings will be included.
