The concern over moisture within concrete substrate surfaces that will receive adhered roofing systems can lead to significant project schedule delays and disruptions to businesses and institutions. In fact, when it comes to time to fully enclose the building, concrete moisture vapor emission is a leading cause in delaying this vitally important critical path. Despite the disruption this issue causes, there remains significant misunderstandings across the design build industry regarding product warranties, field moisture tests, and just how long it takes concrete “to dry”. During this presentation, we will discuss the current state of the body of literature as it pertains to concrete roof decks. Further, clear recommendations will be given as to how the specifying professional can proactively address concrete substrate moisture through the construction documents with strategies that support both Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and Net Zero by 2050: A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector.

Low voltage systems, IT, AV, and building managements systems in the past were stand alone systems and this isolation between them caused issues for the users experience in a negative way. By working together on the early design phases, this will eliminate many challenges for designers and engineers planning a space layout. Audiovisual and data applications in various spaces will be covered, and the connectivity requirements associated with them for onsite and remote applications. This presentation will show how combining facility management, IT and AV teams on the usage of the spaces early in the process will enhance the user’s experiences. A variety of ceiling, wall and floor boxes as cable management solutions will be addressed.
