Sustainable Performance Coatings: Powder for Architectural Applications

08:05 AM - 09:05 AM

Learn how to identify performance coatings with an improved sustainability footprint for architectural applications. Delving into architectural grade performance powder coatings, the course will give participants an understanding of how powder is manufactured and applied, the different types of architectural grade powder and the technical performance capabilities of the different grades. Participants will understand the different applications for powder coating on architectural projects, how powder complies with the AAMA Coating specifications and how it compares with traditional liquid coatings. We will also cover the sustainability advantages of powder, the design possibilities using powder coatings and what to watch out for when specifying powder coating.

Today’s Radiator: Historic Integrity Paired With Optimal Heating Performance

10:45 AM - 11:45 AM

For architects, purposeful materials selection is a priority in any design. For restorations and renovations, product selection means more. Designers who re-use the building’s existing materials not only preserve historic beauty but also reduce the embodied carbon of the building. On a rare occasion, a re-used product can deliver even more. This course features that one product – the cast-iron radiator. Of course, we’ll discuss the history and beauty of the radiator. Most importantly, we’ll talk about how a century-old product can deliver a modern, energy-efficient heating system with less environmental impact than other options.

Sustainable Exterior Envelope

11:45 AM - 12:45 PM

This course focuses on the effect biological and physical agents have on the wood substrate of the exterior building envelope. After reviewing these agents, you will learn how proper installation and best building practices can limit the exposure these agents can pose to your project. Durable wood substrates will also be discussed with a comparison of popular man-made durability agents used to further protect the exterior envelope.

The Benefits of 100% Offsite Fabricated Stainless Steel Railing Systems

01:15 PM - 02:15 PM

Explore the advantages of integrating 100% offsite fabrication into the design of the ornamental railing you specify in your architectural projects.

When compared to local fabrication, Offsite fabrication of custom-designed railing systems not only dramatically improves product quality, it also minimizes project waste, reduces product costs, and streamlines construction processes. Offsite Fabrication = Value Engineering!

In this presentation you will learn how architects, designers, and engineers can reduce overall project costs and improve project outcomes by specifiying architectural products which have been custom-designed to precisely fit each project, and then prefabricated to completion offsite, while helping builders and contractors achieve greater efficiency.
