1. Participants will receive an introduction to Safe Patient Handling (SPH), why it exists, and how Patient Lifts support SPH initiatives and Early Mobility for improved patient health and wellness. Upon completion of LO 1, participants should understand the advantages of Ceiling Mounted Lifts in comparison to floor style lifts.
2. Participants will be introduced to the components of a system. They should understand which components are significantly impacted by architecture and design, and which ones are driven by clinical end users. They will also be presented with information to help them address financial decisions with their clients as they plan a safe workplace environment for staff, wellness for patients, and balancing budget issues.
3. This LO is intended to be a high point of engagement with participants as we move through different areas of healthcare facilities, show design options, and talk about why they are there. As we review design considerations as a group, participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and challenges, and the presenter will help with options to address them. Throughout this LO, participants will learn how solving these issues can lead to efficient design of the systems, which will optimize safety for staff and better health outcomes for hospital patients and nursing home residents.
4. In the final LO, participants will be introduced to new and emerging trends in Ceiling Mounted Patient Lift products. They will learn how architectural design is impacted by these new trends and how vendors and designers can work together to improve safety in the workplace for nurses, and improved health outcomes for patients.
