Learning Objectives

1. Understand the components of EIFS, its history, and common insulation used in these systems, with a closer look at the features and benefits of Graphite Polystyrene (GPS).
2. Explain the importance of Continuous Insulation (Ci) in meeting current Building Codes, CO2 reduction goals and describe how GPS EIFS contributes towards these objectives.
3. Compare the embodied CO2 of common insulation in EIFS using available life cycle analysis (LCA), environmental product declarations (EPDs), and other third-party tools.
4. Know what the Biomass Balance approach to manufacturing is and how it is currently reducing the CO2 footprint of GPS and associated EIFS systems.
